Yemeni Prime Minister Moein Abdul-Malik said today, Thursday, that he discussed with the US special envoy to Yemen Tim Lenderking peace efforts in Yemen.
Moein Abdul-Malik confirmed that he discussed with Lenderking the Houthi position rejecting all peace efforts, as well as Iran’s disruptive role in Yemen.
He explained that the Washington envoy renewed his country’s support for the government and its presence in Aden and rejected any actions that undermine the consensus based on the Riyadh Agreement.
The US envoy said earlier that he was communicating with the UN envoy and regional parties to a ceasefire in Yemen.
The Yemeni government welcomed the peace efforts made by the United States through its new administration.
The US State Department spokeswoman said last Tuesday that she welcomed the Houthi response to the US-seeking ceasefire plan, one day after Muhammad Ali al-Houthi rejected the plan, describing it as a diplomatic circumvention to restore the siege again.
